August is here, and with it comes a fresh set of compliance obligations for businesses in India. To help you navigate the month smoothly and avoid any late fees or penalties, we have compiled a detailed guide to the essential GST and TDS due dates.

Staying ahead of these deadlines is not just about avoiding fines; it's a critical part of maintaining a healthy financial record and ensuring a seamless flow of business operations. Here's what you need to know.

Important TDS Due Dates for August 2025

TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is a mechanism where tax is deducted at the source of income. It's the responsibility of the deductor to deposit this tax with the government and file the necessary statements. Failing to do so on time can result in significant interest and penalties.

  • August 7, 2025: Monthly TDS/TCS Deposit This is the last date for all deductors to deposit the TDS and TCS collected during the month of July 2025. Timely payment is crucial, and any delay can attract interest charges.

  • August 15, 2025: Quarterly TDS Certificate Issuance (Form 16A) This is a vital deadline for all non-salary TDS deductors. You must issue the TDS certificate (Form 16A) for the first quarter of the financial year (April to June 2025). This certificate is proof of the tax you have deducted and deposited on behalf of the deductee, and it allows them to claim the credit.

  • August 30, 2025: Challan-cum-Statement for Specific TDS Sections For specified individuals who have deducted tax under Sections 194-IA (TDS on immovable property), 194-IB (TDS on rent by individuals/HUF), 194-M (TDS on payment to contractors and professionals), and 194-S (TDS on virtual digital assets), this is the due date for furnishing the Challan-cum-Statement for deductions made in July 2025.

Essential GST Due Dates for August 2025

GST (Goods and Services Tax) compliance is a recurring process, with various forms to be filed based on your business's turnover and registration type.

  • August 10, 2025: GSTR-7 and GSTR-8 Filing

    • GSTR-7: This return is for persons who have a GST TDS registration and have deducted tax under GST.

    • GSTR-8: This is the return for e-commerce operators who have collected TCS (Tax Collected at Source) on supplies made through their platform. Both returns are for the month of July 2025.

  • August 11, 2025: GSTR-1 Filing (Monthly Filers) This is the deadline for filing GSTR-1 for July 2025. This applies to all taxpayers with an aggregate annual turnover exceeding ₹5 crore, or those who have voluntarily opted for monthly filing. GSTR-1 contains details of all your outward supplies (sales).

  • August 13, 2025: Invoice Furnishing Facility (IFF) This is an optional facility for taxpayers under the QRMP (Quarterly Return Monthly Payment) scheme. If you choose to use it, this is the last date to upload details of your B2B invoices for July 2025. This allows your recipients to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on a monthly basis, even though you will file your GSTR-1 quarterly.

  • August 20, 2025: GSTR-3B Filing (Monthly Filers) The due date for filing GSTR-3B for the month of July 2025. This is a crucial summary return that includes your tax liability, ITC claims, and other summary details. It is mandatory for all monthly GST filers.

A Note on Penalties and Interest: Failing to meet these deadlines can lead to penalties and interest. For GST returns, a late fee of ₹50 per day (₹20 per day for nil returns) and interest at 18% per annum may be charged. For TDS, interest is charged at 1% per month for late deduction and 1.5% per month for late deposit.

Plan your month accordingly and ensure your filings and payments are completed well in advance to avoid any last-minute stress.
